Authorize.net SIM (Simple Integration Method) transactions are submitted over a non-secure link to the authorize.net Gateway. If you do not have access to a secure certificate, this method would be the best option. Authorize.net provides a secure order form for SIM transactions.
Authorize.net AIM (Advanced Integration Method) transactions are submitted over a secure (https) link to the authorize.net gateway. AIM is the preferred and highly recommended method of connection to the authorize.net gateway, and is much easier to work with than SIM. Authorize.net recommends having a secure certificate when submitting AIM transactions, however this isn't a requirement to use our AIM scripts.
